ITC’s Counselor-In-Training Program: A Step Towards Leadership

The CIT (Counselor-In-Training) Program at In the City Camps is a dynamic and enriching opportunity for rising 9th graders. It acts as a bridge from camper to staff member, offering practical camp counseling experience and the chance to positively impact younger campers. Set in a supportive and fun camp environment, this program is ideal for hands-on learning and leadership development.

 

Program Highlights

  • Leadership Development and Mentorship: Engage in workshops focused on essential leadership qualities, complemented by mentorship from experienced staff who guide CITs in their counselor responsibilities.

  • Hands-On Experience and Community Building: Gain practical experience in planning and leading camp activities while learning the significance of creating an inclusive, positive camp community.

  • Skill Development and Personal Growth: Explore and enhance various skills based on individual interests, from arts to outdoor activities, coupled with responsibilities that promote personal growth and readiness for future leadership roles.

  • Fun, Engagement, and Friendship: The program balances learning with fun, ensuring a memorable summer filled with friendship, enjoyment, and full immersion in the vibrant camp atmosphere.

Program Duration and Requirements

The CIT Program runs concurrently with regular camp sessions, allowing full immersion in the camp environment. CITs sign up by the week and more weeks are recommended for a richer experience.

Cost:

  • Early Bird Special (Feb 4 - March 4): $400

  • Regular Price (Starting March 5): $450

Eligibility:

Exclusively for rising 9th graders eager to develop leadership skills and take the first step towards becoming a camp counselor.

Application Process:

Prospective CITs must complete a camper application and a supplemental CIT application, including an interview to evaluate their suitability. Spaces are limited to ensure a focused and impactful experience for each participant.
